Our latest family favorite music has been Awakening from Passion '10. Now I know that we are a little behind in music choices {seeing as it's been out since January} but admitting it is the first step in realizing that your just not 'hip' anymore, right?!
The kids favorite, by far, is the song Our God.
They sing it at the top of their lungs over and over . . . . you get the point.
After some huffing & puffing, I have finally got them liking some of the other songs on the album. My favorites Only You Can Rescue & Awakening. I love hearing them sing these songs, mainly because, even though they have only little knowledge about what they are actually singing about, it reminds me that one day they will have 'awakenings' of their own. When my girls were infants & toddlers, I didn't think much about their salvation. Now that they are almost six, they are beginning to ask questions. They are beginning to have understanding. They are beginning to start that very first conversation with the God that made them. They are not far from an awakening of their own.
More than 'being saved' & knowing where they will spend eternity, I pray for my daughters' & my son's awakenings. I pray for the day when they realized they are dead. They are in need of rescue & call on our God who is mighty to save. I pray that they can somehow fully grasp His love for them - a love that brought Him down to find us & lead us out of death. A love that compels them to lead a
life worthy of that call.
A life that is far from ordinary, comfortable or lukewarm.
So I'm praying. I'm praying for that first stir. That first glimpse when they realize He is calling them. When their eyes are opened and they are . . . awake.
