monday's randoms . . .

1} Random, you say? How's this for random . . . 

my husband is in Coq Chante, Haiti - last night, he delivered a baby on the side of the road!!!! Nope, he's not a doctor, he's a pastor and delivered a health, baby boy on the side of the road with one of our deacons, while several Haitians stood around her to block her from the cars! Now if that's not the craziest story you've ever heard, I don't know what is??!!! {luckily, we have a pediatrician who went with them on this trip, the mom & baby are now under her care at the orphanage}

Can't wait for him to share that story on here & hopefully some pictures of that baby boy!

2} How do I top that random???!!!!!! Seriously.

3} little boys. they are silly.

4} Really, I feel a bit shallow typing about my miscellany's after my husband brought life into the world last night. Kinda fitting for the season. The Bread of Life . . . the Light of the World . . . the Word became flesh and the world sat idly by, carrying on with their business. 

May our eyes & hearts be focused on that baby boy and away from the busyness all around.

miscellany mondays . . .

1} I know they're mine, but I think they're gorgeous. 

  

2} The "hall decking" has officially begun at the Tharpe house! Lights are twinkling, garland in hanging & I'm singing along with Pandora set to Swingin' Christmas. 'Tis the season!

3} I'm re-reading the book Captivating by John & Stacy Eldridge for a small group of woman meeting at our house on Thursday nights. I read it years ago when my girls were little, but this time around it has spoken so much to me as a woman but also as a mother to little women. I highly recommend it.

Somewhat of an announcement about our{simple}life coming!

miscellany mondays . . .

Been a while since I've done some randoms . . . so here goes . . .

1} #3 favorite thing about living in TN again . . . mountains! We've been hiking/walking in them a lot this fall. We did House Mountain this weekend with my Dad. The first .7 miles were decent, but the last .3 were brutal! Straight up, rocky paths - I was so proud of the kids! {and myself! ha!}

2} My husband is playing in a golf tournament today. Since we've known each other, he has played golf one time. But his tourney is for a good cause - finishing the new school &  new church buildings for the people of Coq Chante, Haiti. 

{I'm working him up for a whole post on his first trip before he leaves again in three weeks}

3} I'm thankful. Yes, very grateful. But I also really, really like Christmas decorations. So, they'll probably be out before that little holiday called Thanksgiving. And that's fine with me. I'll be thankful and merry all at the same time. Or who knows, maybe we'll have a mixture of pumpkins & snowflakes all about??!

4} With that note, it's time to stop playing on the computer & get to work! I like to do what I call Fall Cleaning before all the decor comes out. Kind of like working with a blank canvas.
