what does it really mean to be 'pro-life'?

I have read several blog entries on this topic lately. It is by no means, in my mind a political or moral matter {if you know me, than you know I do not talk politics-it never goes well for me, so I just decided it is easier to stay away from it} - This specific topic tends to be a spiritual {calling} matter. It seems we {me} as followers of Christ boast in the fact that God is capable of supplying our every need, yet we feel we have the 'right' to decide how many children we should have. Seems to be a complete oxymoron to me - really if you think about it, it's partial surrender. If we really, really believed that our God is sovereign, then would we really need to 'plan' our families? Wouldn't he already know? I read a great post here where she even compares the excuses for abortions to the excuses for birth control & sterilization . . . they are surprisingly similar.

It is also very heartbreaking to see the way children are viewed these days - I know I am guilty of viewing my children as burdens, brats and at times I'm pretty sure I've used the phrase, "You are going to be the death of me!" Joking aside, the Bible is very clear as to what children are . . . they are a blessing. A reward. How many times do we celebrate when God is faithful in certain areas of our lives and yet I over look three blessings {REWARDS} every. single. day.

It also amazes me how many stories I've heard {and/or read} of couples who have gotten pregnant using birth controls {and many who even thought they had been "fixed"} and on the other hand, stories of couples who, at the beginning of the their marriages, gave their 'wombs' over to God who have never conceived {many with no known medical reasoning}

I really don't know what to think of it all. I am still processing the whole idea & what that would look like as a step of obedience for us. Just something for us all to think about . . . something to pray about.
