homemade Christmas . . . UPDATED!

I forgot to show you how this started out . . .

I know you're thinking is that a bag?? Why, yes it is! It was an old JClayton bag I bought several years ago @ a warehouse sale. Two of the zippers were busted so I thought I might as well make something out of it . . . .
oh, and I do realize that the mirror looks dirty, but its not. It's an old mirror, and modern glass cleaner apparently doesn't work well on it. Anybody know how I can clean it?? Let me know.
. . . . . . . . . . . .

Since we're moving & the $ will be tight this year, I'm having to be creative & come up with or steal :) some cute decorations --Don't you just love this? I do! I first saw this on the Nester's site & another lady featured it on her blog. I knew it would fit perfect into my Christmas decor which doesn't really have a name, but I like to call it " an East Tennessee Christmas, is the only Christmas for me." I fill my home w/ the things that remind me of Christmas & if I could sum it up in one word I would choice, cozy. Our home is filled w/ plaids, deep reds & greens, browns & tan, REAL pine cones & sticks (straight from the yard), apple spice candles and homemade treasures. Just like this one . . .

Both tutorials said it was very time consuming, so maybe I was over estimating, but it really only took me & my girls about a hour to finish it. I was out of twine, so I just used several strains of raffia which I loved even more b/c they hang from the sides. LOOOVVEE it!!! Great addition to the Tharpe Christmas collection. Now, you know you want one. . . so go! Get to work!!
