a much needed update . . .

Wow, it seems like forever since I've sat down to update on our crazy family . . . so here goes! The last few months can be summed up in a few words: illness, travel, more illness & kids growing way to fast!!

Illness first: Someone in our home has been sick and/or on medication since January, that's right, I said January!! Deacon has battled several ear infections, medicine switches, a stomach virus and colds. From January to last week, he was only off of an antibiotic for 2 weeks in February. But, he takes his meds like a pro & never loses that sweet smile even when he is miserable. He has a little bit of a runny nose right now (allergies) but is doing just fine!! Thank goodness! The girls & I passed around a stomach virus in January & February, Ella got pink eye in March and they were both diagnosed with strep last Friday!! They are doing much better now that they're on meds. Oh yeah, and we're pretty sure Brock had the flu while we were in TN, VA & DC . . fun times :) Other than me having a stuffy nose, we are all good & healthy right. Now, if only we can stay this way :)

We had a whirlwind of a trip in March. We drove to TN for 2 days to surprise my Mom on her 50th Birthday. From there we drove to Roanoke, VA, stayed the night & headed to Chantilly, VA the next morning. Brock had the honor of marrying one of our former youth guys, JonMichael & his new bride, Allyse. JonMichael is in the army & stationed just outside of DC. Before heading back to NC the day after the wedding, we decided to head into DC for a morning of sight seeing. It was fast & exhausting, but we're so glad we got to take the girls to see our capital!!

The kids are all doing well. When you have multiples, you thrive off of schedule & routine. So when the girls were little, their lives were very organized & structured and while I do my best for Deacon to have the same, Brock & I have found it is much easier to enjoy a single child. Plus, the added exhaustion of having twins makes it hard to remember those first 2 years. :) With Deacon we are amazed & excited every time he does something. We're like the annoying parents with an only child (ok, some of you just pictured a couple in your head!!) But we're careful not to be "those" parents :) Deacon is saying several things: DaDa, MaMa, Si Sa "Sissy", Wasdat "Whats that" and something that sounds like "I did it." He has also learned where is hair, belly & feet are! His new found fun is throwing things in the trashcan. Just the other day I found his train, his cup & a Wii remote in there. I'm just waiting for something to come up missing! He absolutely loves balls! He loves to throw the ball to you & try to catch it. Most of the time he has a ball with him where ever he goes. He also loves to be outside exploring in the backyard & riding his tricycle. Which brings me to Soph & Els, who . . drum roll please . . . are no longer using training wheels!!!!!!! That's right, they are officially a "big kid" now! (as they say) I randomly decided to take them off the other night and after a few tumbles in the driveway, I sent Ella through the grass with a big push & off she went!!! Sophie following!! I really could not believe it! Such a cool thing to see! Now they are everywhere!! Here's a video of them in action . . .

They are still going to school several days a week, but that may change soon because we have been lead to take a different & called step in their education. (More on that later) They are growing more everyday and seem to gain something everyday. I'm so thankful that I get to be here with them to not only aid in that, but to witness it first hand.

Well, that's all I got for now. There are pictures of all these things a couple post down (March pictures). Thanks for checking in . . . .

PS- We just got back from a camping trip & my family is visiting now . . so there will be new pictures up soon . . . Here's a picture of my favorite part of camping . .
