so many reasons to love soph . . .

There are so many reasons to adore Sophie. She is very reserved & only lets a chosen few in. Where Ella is very open, Sophie is slightly guarded. You must earn her attention & admiration. Her intelligence is beyond her years & having a conversation with her is like talking to a thirty year old. In stressful times, she is often the calming voice. She is very uncomfortable with disagreements & is often upset when Ella gets in trouble. (Although she is not exempt from it herself!) She is kind and has an awareness of those around her. She has a kind heart, it just may take a few meetings to see it. I pray that Sophie recognizes her gentle qualities, and realizes that this greatness in her comes from a God who longs to use them for good.

Several days ago I had a terrible stomach virus, so Brock took the kids out for dinner. On the way, Ella was having a typical Ella meltdown, Deacon was screaming with Ella (he thinks this is fun) & Brock was pretty tense. Finally, Ella fell asleep & Deacon found his passy, so they were all quiet. From the back seat, Sophie's sweet little voice spoke up & said, "Dad, you know some days are just like this. Sometimes its just bad, but that's okay because, some days are just like this."
Brock immediately called me and told me her wonderful words of advice.
He also called back several minutes later and asked, "Do you know why God made splinters? Sophie just asked me & I don't know the answer?"
Any takers? :)

Sophie & I were scheming the other night about Brock's Valentine's gift. I asked her if she had any ideas of what we could get him. She answered, " Mom, I don't know WHAT to get Daddy? He has everything he needs!"

One of Sophie's famous lines is "Hey guys, I've got a great idea!" One afternoon, Brock & I were sitting on the couch when she walked up to us and said, "Hey guys, I've got a great idea. I really like my camera I got for Christmas, but I was thinking that when the batteries die maybe we could put new ones in it & then I can give my camera to someone who doesn't have one. I think someone else would like to use it too." I wanted to cry.

Sophie ALWAYS comments on my outfits or my hair. She constantly says, "Mommy, you look so beautiful today" or "Mom, I really like your outfit. It's so cute!" I recognize in the these comments, that she needs me to tell her these things just as much. It is a priority in our home that our girls get compliments everyday, especially from their Daddy.

Sophie Eleanor, what would we do without you??!
