May Update

Summer is up and running! More on that later. . .
May started for us with a trip home to TN—which is always packed full! Bethany helped with a baby shower, we spent Mother’s Day with our families--which was extra special for Brock, being it was our first Mother’s Day home in four years and Sophie & Ella’s first chance to place flowers on their Grandma Dorothy’s grave for the holiday. We also found a little time for a trip to the Knoxville Zoo which Sophie & Ella LOVED! (Not to mention us too!) You just don’t appreciate the animal kingdom until you see it with a 2 year old!
Brock held his annual lock-in with another local church. Sophie, Ella and Mommy stayed for some pizza and some mingling, but headed home to enjoy a good nights rest in our beds!
Sophie & Ella also participated in their first “mission trip” this month. Along with the other children in their class, they collected and delivered toys to the pediatric floor at the local hospital. It was a sweet moment for us, as we begin to teach our girls how to love and care for others.—On that note, this month we joined up with the Operation Iraqi Children organization. With full commitment from the youth and their families, we have begun to assemble school supplies boxes that will be shipped to American troops in Iraq, which they will deliver directly to the children. After Brock mentioning this in his sermon, we were approached by a lady who works with the local chapter of the Boys & Girls Club who would like to jump on board as well! Please pray for us as begin this ministry. If you would like to learn more or maybe start a drive at your local church go to Operation Iraqi Children's website for more information.
The Carolina coastal heat is upon us, which means our air conditioner is pumping and the ocean is calling! After waiting a few weeks for the water to warn, it was finally time to head to the beach! At the end of last season, the girls absolutely loved the beach and showed no fear of the ocean. This year was a little different. While Ella still loved riding the waves with Dad—Sophie was another story! She wanted nothing to do with the water. Her amusement came from collecting shells and launching them into the ocean, being careful to run away before the waves “caught her!"
Well, that’s the wrap up of May! June is sure to bring adventures all its own!
Check back in a few weeks! Until then . . . .
